As we covered in the Moxie Mo Show #99, Apple held it’s “It’s Only Rock and Roll” event today with some major surprises and some things we already covered in last night’s podcast. First, Steve Jobs took the stage and it’s been a long time since we’ve seen him lead the events. Welcome back Steve! He looks great after undergoing a liver transplant.
So here’s the moxie breakdown of what’s coming out, just in time for the new holiday season… Pics from Engadget who did a PHENOM job covering the live event!
(1) New iPod Nano – this is the biggest news, in the Moxie Mo’s opinion: a brand new iPod Nano, stainless steal, lowered cost ($99) and the big news… Apple is now taking on the video market (good bye Flip Mino) by installing a HD camera and microphone into this Nano! The Nano will also come with an FM radio as well, which obviously competes with the HD Zune. It’s phenomenal:

(2) iTunes 9 – We covered the new iTunes 9 in Moxie Mo Show #95 and we pretty much hit the target. It has a completely clean and new interface for almost everything, including the addition of a new “blu-ray” like “Extras” when you watch a movie (think of the extras you get when you’re playing a DVD in your DVD player) movie screen to view movies on as well as new Genius Mixes. You like a song in your library, click on the Genius Mix and a “DJ” will create a radio station full of all your favorite songs and sync them to your iPod, iPod Touch/Nano and iPhone. We like the new iTunes 9. It’s very moxie. Also, iTunes 9 allows Home Sharing which means you can share movies, music and video (podcasts, TV) to 5 other computers in your house. Finally!

There were a lot of other mentions at today’s iPod-centric event but the other moxie mention we need to make is the new OS for the iPhone has been updated to now iPhone 3.1 – you can upgrade, for free, now by plugging in your iPhone and upgrading your phone via iTunes 9. iPhone 3.1 allows for more ringtones to be purchased, new genius features and new app genius features (you buy an app, the genius on your iPhone tells you what other apps you may like).
